Mobile Patrol vs. Static Guards: Cost, Coverage, and Fit

When to deploy a static officer, when a mobile patrol makes economic sense, and when a hybrid model is the right answer.

§01The economics.

A static guard at $28/hr × 24 × 30 = ~$20k/month per post. A mobile patrol program covering the same site with 3–6 nightly checks: typically $700–1,500/month. For low-activity sites, mobile is dramatically more efficient.

§02When static is the right answer.

High-value single sites, sites with continuous vehicle/foot traffic, buildings with concierge requirements, and sites needing immediate physical intervention. Static is the correct choice.

§03When mobile is the right answer.

Property portfolios where sites are geographically clustered, low-traffic overnight periods, and sites where documented presence (not physical intervention) is the deterrent. Mobile is efficient.

§04The hybrid.

Class-A commercial and multi-family portfolios often deploy concierge or static during business hours, mobile patrol overnight and weekends. Best-of-both economics, minimal coverage gaps.
